C.C.C.S. SUMMER DAY CAMP: CCCS is offering a summer day camp for students enrolled in 1st-8th Grade for the 2019/2020 School-Year. The camp will run June 3-July 26 from 6:30am-5:00pm.  Please sign up in the School Office. The cost per week is $100 per child.  Payment for selected weeks will be billed through Smart Tuition.  To take advantage of the 2 monthly payments, registration cards must be turned in by FRIDAY, MAY 10. THE LAST DAY TO SIGN UP FOR CAMP IS MAY 31.  Please note, C.C.C.S Summer Day Camp enrollment will be opened up to the church body beginning April 1.

Juniors: an email was sent about scholarship opportunities through the College Board.  Be sure to log in to your College Board account or create one if you still haven’t done so. 

Students: Laptops are not to be carried or stored in your lockers at school. You must have approval from a teacher (who has approval from admin) to bring your laptop. The laptop will either be stored with the teacher in their room, or checked in to the JH/HS office. When in use, you can only do so in the classroom of the teacher approved, under their supervision.

The Student Handbook states on page 12:

“For the sake of safety and the privacy of others, any device facilitating communication with or between one or more persons or stations, or which is able to reproduce, store or transmit images or text will lead to confiscation and examination by Administration – “Search & Seizure”. Personal cameras, laptops, iPads, iPods, etc. are not allowed on campus. When confiscated, they will be returned to the parent only. Non-adherence to this policy is considered a serious infraction and will result in disciplinary action.”

Seniors: stop by the college board in the hallway for information about job opportunities through the city of Downey. 

Fall 2019 sophomores, juniors and seniors: Grand Canyon University is offering a summer camp.  Stop by the college board in the hallway to review the different programs offered at this camp.

Juniors and Seniors: Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta is hosting a “Preview Night”.  It will be held on Sun., 4/28.  You will have the opportunity to meet staff and take a tour.  Overnight accommodations are available at $69 a night, per room.  Rooms fit up to 6 people.  On the following day, you can sit in a classroom and observe.  More information is on the college board in the hallway. 

Summer School: This summer we are planning to offer Fundamentals of Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Geometry. Summer school is an option for students to advance in math or to improve/make-up their math grade. Summer school is 6/3 – 7/12 from 8am-12pm. If you are interested in signing up for summer school you can pick up a registration form in the JH/HS office registration forms are due on or before Fri., 5/24. Seniors: if you have been accepted to Cal State Long Beach, you need to look into the University Honors Program and see if you qualify.  Stop by the college board in the hallway for more information.

Seniors: information about scholarships for athletes through NCAA has been added to the college board in the hallway.  Stop by the hallway and pick up a flyer.   

JH students, you cannot wear Joggers, this is your warning. If you decide to wear them, you will serve a detention after school.

Grizzly Academy Celebration Night: May 16th from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm in the MAIN Sanctuary.

Summer Teacher’s Training:  June 27th from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm in the South Sanctuary.  More information to follow.  This will be for parent-teacher’s only.

Exiting Campus:  All HS students must exit campus through the red gate or HS office. No HS students are allowed to walk through the elementary unless you are picking up a younger sibling in elementary school. In that case, please wait by the pick-up gate only. The elementary area is not to be used as a quicker access to the Chapel Cafe for anyone.
