TRAINED AMBASSADORS Trained Ambassadors are students who employ effective verbal and written communication skills to clearly express ideas, truths, and convictions as spirit-filled representatives of the gospel of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:20) “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Students are not permitted upstairs during lunch or before 7:30 a.m.
JH/HS Library Hours: Library/SMART Lab Hours Monday – Friday 7:00 - 3:30, Tuesdays 7:30 - 3:30
Watch & Pray Prayer Meeting: Parents are welcome to join us for prayer as we lift the needs of our school, students, parents, and administration to our Heavenly Father. Join us on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:45am in the School of Ministry room next to the Chapel Store. You can also submit prayer requests to watchandpray123@gmail.com
Summer School 2026: This summer we are planning to offer Fundamentals of Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Geometry. Summer school is an option for students to improve/make-up their math grade in math, or to advance in math. Summer school dates are 6/8 – 7/17 (6 weeks) from 8am-12pm. If you are interested in signing up for summer school, fill out and return the registration form to the JH/HS office. Registrations forms were emailed to your parents and are also available for pick up in the JH/HS office. Applications are due on or before Mon., 6/1 with full payment. For more information, you can contact Mrs. Naaktgeboren.

DAILY PORTION: Calvary Chapel Downey invites you to join us as we follow the Daily Portion Bible Reading Plan. When we read our bibles most days of the week, even for a short period of time, we open ourselves up to the opportunity of the Scripture’s transformative power in many areas of our lives.

Important Dates:
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
JH Daycare: JH students, if you arrive at school before 7:30am, you must sign-in to Daycare. If you need to go to Daycare after school, you must sign-in by 2:45pm. JH students may not wander the hallways before or after school.
End of the Year 8th Grade Events:
• Group Photo/Promotion Practice (Last Day of School 5/21): 8th graders will drop off gowns by the 8th grade lockers upon arrival at school & pick up your gown after school in the foyer with your MAROON uniform polo under the gown for the Group Photo. Immediately following the group photo practice will take place until approximately 3-4pm.
• Promotion will take place on Wed., 5/27at 1pm in the main sanctuary.
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
College Visits:
Parking Permits: Attention student drivers! If you are currently driving to school, you must fill out a parking permit application and submit it to the Office. Applications are available in the High School Office, on the rack adjacent to the front doors.
Yearbook Signing: Our handbook reads, “Students who deface or write inappropriate remarks in another student’s yearbook will be subject to disciplinary action and/or may be required to replace the yearbook or the replacement cost of the yearbook.” We want every word that comes from our mouth to edify others and to bring glory to God.
Finals Week Discipline: Any students participating in pranks or arriving to school out of dress code during finals week will be sent home and will have to come on Fri., May 22 at 8am to make up their test.
Lost and Found: Check the lost and found for any items you may be missing. All items will be donated if not claimed by Thurs., 5/21.
Medications: If you currently have medication stored in the office, please be sure to pick it up before the end of the school year.
Locker Clean Out: Students can start cleaning out their lockers beginning Wed., 5/20. Once you take your final, you should take those books home. All lockers (including athletics) need to be completely cleaned out by Thu., 5/21. On Mon., 6/8 all items left in the lockers will be discarded.
Textbooks: Students, you should obtain your parents’ permission before donating your textbooks. If your parents agree to donate your books, turn them into the High School office.
SENIORS
Cerritos Complete Promise Program: Seniors, make sure you sign up for this program by April 19; FAFSA is part of the process so if you haven’t submitted FAFSA, do it! This application is not binding, so check out the senior hallway college bulletin to learn more about this program. June 30 is the enrollment deadline to commit to Cerritos College.
Scholarship Opportunities: Seniors, make sure you are regularly checking the Senior Hallway bulletin board (outside Pastor Roger’s office) for up-to-date college information.
Seniors Trip Fundraiser: If you need to turn in money or pick up another chocolate box, see Mrs. Naaktgeboren.
Class of 2026: If you would like transcripts sent directly to the school of your choice as soon as they are available, please sign the clipboard on the counter in the JH/HS office.
End of the Year Senior Events! For more information on the items below, see Mr. Nuño, Grizzly Academy Website Or Grizzly office!
• Graduation Practice 5/26: This is mandatory practice. Check-in at 12:30pm at the glass doors next to the office. Practice will end between 3pm-4pm. Bring the shoes you will be wearing at Graduation, but do not bring your cap or gown!
• Senior Showcase/Recognition Day 5/28 : Main Foyer doors open at 8am for the Journey Board Displays, coffee, refreshments, and pastries. The awards presentation will start at 9am in the Main Sanctuary.
• Grad Night Fri., 5/28: Stay tuned for all the details!
• Graduation 5/29: Seniors will check-in at 1pm at the glass doors next to the office. Come in your cap & gown and leave personal belongings with your family. The ceremony will start promptly at 2pm.
